When & Where We Rehearse
We usually perform two productions each year, one in the Spring, and the other in the Autumn. Productions run for a week, and are usually in the Theatre Royal, Winchester
Our rehearsal nights are Mondays and Wednesdays, and rehearsals begin at 7.45pm, although not all cast members are called for every rehearsal. We usually rehearse in Western School, Browning Drive, Winchester. You can see a map showing the school location by clicking here.
At the beginning of each show, we invite friends and potential cast members to join us for an 'information evening', where you can meet some of our members, learn about the forthcoming production, hear some of the music, and maybe try some singing. For The Mikado, this was on November 26th, 2008, and around 50 members old and new attended to hear Director Ian Crowe's exciting ideas for our latest production.
Auditions
To take an acting part, applicants need to attend an audition, which takes place before each production. Chorus auditions tends to involve performing part of a song from the production (which we will have been rehearsing during the previous couple of weeks), and maybe some movement. Auditions for solo parts tend to test acting skills too, and details of what exactly we ask from our auditonees are given out during rehearsals a couple of weeks prior to audition. These auditions are usually advertised in the local press, and more information is available on our Yeomen of the Guard.
