Welcome to Winchester Operatic Society

We are a friendly and lively group that stages musicals, operetta and light operatic productions at the Theatre Royal Winchester.

Of the many distinguished Musical Directors and Producers that have worked with the Society the best known is Sir Malcolm Sargent who worked with us during the 1920s and 1930s. (see History)

July 2012-June 2013 marks our centenary.  The society was founded in 1912 and produced its first show in 1913.  We perform at the Theatre Royal, Winchester staging two productions annually in the spring and in the autumn.

Auditions take place before each production. Rehearsals take place at 7.45pm on Mondays and Wednesdays at United Church, Jewry Street, Winchester SO23 8RZ (directions). Not all the cast is called for each rehearsal. Productions run for one week.

PATIENCE (Autumn 2013)

Information regarding our production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience will be given on Wednesday 12th June 2013 at United Church, Jewry St, SO23 8RZ from 7.30pm - all interested parties are welcome. Auditions will take place on Sunday 23rd June from 10 am at All Saints School Hall, Winchester - interested parties have to submit their names in advance - preferably at the Information evening.
